Improving one's health is typically the number one resolution made at the beginning of the New Year.  Within three weeks the likelihood of you staying true to that resolution has decreased drastically.  Motivation, inspiration, and dedication is the key to fulfilling the promise you made to yourself to start the change, if you need some support or info about starting an exercise routine stop by the fitness centre and check out what we have available. 

Our staff/volunteers can orientate you to the equipment and start you on a program or you can join one or more of the programs listed below.

  • YOGA with Laurie MacDonald is currently cancelled and will restart in the spring.
  • MENS' BASKETBALL  An opportunity for those retired players to dust off their sneakers and shoot some hoops with the young guns.  Supervisor, Russell Pedersen
  • INDOOR WALKING Track your steps, loops or time as you walk about the gym and/or building.  Safe and weatherproof.  Each weekday morning in the gym/building at the SVYCC between 9:30AM and 11:00AM Fee: $10.00
  • DOG OBEDIENCE Training is happening in Salmo.  Monday evenings with Geanne Shaw. Geanne instructs two classes, both of which are full so if you are interested in attending the next session please contact us and we will start a list to see if there are enough numbers to run the program again.
  • M.A.W.W. Make a Weight Wish is a participant led program for people who want to reach their suitable (ideal) weight.  The group will meet once a week to weigh in, share success stories, exchange healthy recipes, and discuss exercise schedule for the upcoming week.  Guest speakers will be invited to share their expertise and support participants in achieving their goals.  Group members will be able to access the fitness centre during regular hours.  This group is for anyone who wants encouragement and support in reaching their goals.  All participants must first consult with their doctor before joining this program.
    The program will last 13 weeks Feb. 2nd to April 27th
